ADU Concepts is a licensed general contractor, not just a design office or a scheduler of subcontractors. We handle feasibility, design, engineering, and permitting ourselves, then build the project with our own crews on your property.
What we do
Eight capabilities, one contractor.
Most ADU projects touch all eight of these along the way. Some companies hand each one to a different vendor and hope they talk to each other. We keep them under one roof, so nothing falls through the cracks between a designer, an engineer, and a builder who've never met.
Density & Feasibility Evaluation
Before you spend a dollar on design, we look at your actual property: zoning, setbacks, parking, and how many units your lot can realistically support. For multifamily properties, that includes how many new detached ADUs your existing building qualifies for, and whether non-livable space, garages, storage rooms, basements, can convert into additional units. If something doesn't pencil out, we'll tell you before you're invested in it.

Architectural Design & Drafting
Start from one of our pre-engineered catalog layouts and we'll adapt it to your lot, or we'll draft a fully custom ADU from scratch when a catalog plan doesn't fit your site. Either way, our design team produces the complete architectural drawing set your city needs to issue a permit.

Energy Efficiency Design
Beyond passing code, we design for lower operating costs and real comfort: right-sized HVAC, quality insulation and glazing, and efficient systems that keep utility bills down for you or your tenant, year after year. Building with non-combustible light-gauge steel adds durability on top of it.
Title 24 Energy Compliance
California requires every new residential structure, ADUs included, to meet Title 24 energy standards. We prepare the compliance documentation and specify the systems that get your plans through review without a separate correction cycle for energy code.
Structural Engineering
Every project gets structural calculations and engineered drawings specific to your site and soil conditions, whether that's the panelized steel structure behind a catalog layout or a full custom structural design for a one-off build.
Permit Expediting
We submit your plans, track them through your city's plan check, and manage every correction cycle so you're not the one on the phone with the building department. Local rules can be more permissive than state law but never more restrictive, and we navigate each Southern California city's process directly, on your behalf.
Construction Management
This is the part some companies hand off to whoever's available. We don't. Our own crews manage and build the project on your property, site work and foundation, framing, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, through to final finishes, with one team accountable for the schedule and the quality.

Financing Guidance
We're not a lender, but we've walked owners through the financing paths people actually use for an ADU: construction and renovation loans, home equity, cash-out refinance, or insurance proceeds for a fire rebuild. We'll help you understand your options before you commit to a plan.
